In only a couple of years, Jim Bruene and Eric Mattson established their Finovate events as the best events in online finance and online / mobile innovation in banking.
The format is pretty unique, the selection of presenting companies is excellent, the speakers and the 300+ people in the audience are passionate and brilliant.
When you think about it, who else than Jim could have put together such an ambitious event and achieved such a big success so quickly?
Not only Jim is a really nice guy, he is well-known in the industry and his Netbanker blog is one of the most popular and insightful blogs out there. Over the years, Jim followed and reviewed countless numbers of startups and leading solution providers in online finance, online banking, and mobile banking. He knows the most innovative companies, the banks are his clients, the VCs and the press / bloggers contact him to exchange information and views on the industry.
And if you add Eric who brought his skills and his vision to help Jim take those events to the next level... you have a great team.
If you are not familiar with Finovate, I invite you to visit the official site, watch the demo videos from previous events, read Jim's coverage on Netbanker, and follow the discussions on twitter.
Another proof that the industry values the Finovate events: even in the current context where most financial institutions slashed their budget for conferences and for travels, and don't spend much money on client facing innovation projects, it looks like the 2009 edition will be even more successful than last year. Bravo Jim & Eric!
You will find a partial list of attending companies at the end of this post.
This year, 30+ companies will demo their flagship products and services:

Coverage of my third Finovate event on Visible-Banking.com
I have great memories of the first two finovate events I covered. I love meeting passionate people, people with a vision. That is what Finovate is all about.
And I was proud to be one of the only Europeans to travel to NYC to participate to the very first Finovate, back in 2007.
A busy schedule back here in the UK prevented me from attending the last two events, but I enjoyed following them on twitter. And I loved the live video coverage from San Francisco this year.
This time I am delighted to be able to travel to vibrant NYC and be in the room on Tuesday 29th! As a matter of fact, I will leave to the airport in less than two hours.
I will cover the event live on my Visible-Banking.com blog and on my twitter account @Visible_Banking.
On the day, I will also shoot as many video interviews as possible with the speakers and the attendees.
I can't wait to catch up with the friends, the readers of Visible Banking, and the senior executives of some of the most engaging financial institutions and startups I have built relationships with over the last two years thanks to Finovate.
And what a busy and exciting schedule.
Between Monday and Wednesday I already have 18 video interviews booked with the following companies: BancVue / First ROI / Kasasa, BillShrink, BrightScope, Discover Financial Services, First Manhattan Consulting Group, Fiserv, Mastercard Worldwide, Merril Lynch, Mint, Online Banking Review, OPEN Forum, Prosper, S1 Enterprise, SimpliFi, SmartyPig, Strands, Thrive, Yodlee.
You share an interest for social media, online finance, online & mobile banking? I look forward to seeing you in person next week at Finovate.
If you can't make the trip to NYC, please don't hesitate to give me a shout on twitter!
A big thanks to my sponsor for this US trip, Finroad the online community for financial markets professionals.
