"Christopher Nolan's film explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He treturns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city."
This Batman is excellent: it is by far darker than the first 2 movies (and I will not even dare to compare it to the no 3 and no 4!), and Christian Bale (Equilibrium, The Machinist) is very convincing. Katie Holmes does not have a great part and the focus is not on the love story between the two of them.
As far as I am concerned, I think Jack Nicholson (the Joker) and Danny deVito (the Penguin) were the 2 best baddies. Liam Neeson's character does not have the same charisma. In top of it, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman bring the touch of humour and are definitely top class actors.
